MGB GT too small, P1800 too dear? Then see if this selection of classic sports carry-alls fits the bill and your budget

SENSE AND STUPIDITY COMBINED
£2000-£10,000+

Initially launched as a saloon in 1968, the Saab 99 then sported a hatchback option by the early 1970s and their hot Turbos now enjoy an almost cult following now the brand has died. More individual and charismatic than a Volvo, Saab’s aviation experience gives its cars a quirkiness that you either love or hate but the performance models are thrilling, especially later Aeros and the last-of the line Viggens; real tarmac terrors and tyre trashers they are… even if they’re essentially re-bodied and engineered Vauxhall Calibras. Parts and specialist back up are not a problem despite the sad demise of this BMW-quality marque.
