who needs a 205 gti?
While all the plaudits fall on the smaller, cuter 205, those in the know will tell you that the larger 309 is the better all rounder while the excellent flagship 1.9 GTi is not so nervous when cornering fast (205GTi owners pinched the larger car’s rear axle because of this). Practical and pragmatic in diesel form, all, apart from the GTi, are cheap £2000 buys but most have rotted away. The one with the most classic status is the GTi Goodwood or one that’s fitted with the rare 16-valve Mi16 engine taken from the 405, but they are usually LHD models.
