The Gerald Palmer designed Jowett Javelin saloon arrived in 1947, with spacious fastback fourdoor body and a novel horizontally opposed, 1.5-litre four- cylinder engine, l o c ated in front of the radiator and gearbox. The car also featured torsion bar suspension giving outstanding ride and handling. The Javelin formed the basis for the three-seater Jupiter sports convertible, introduced in the winter of 1949/50 featuring a tubular steel chassis. Most of the Jupiter’s body w o r k panels were made of aluminium. Sadly, in 1953 financial problems dictated the end of both the Javelin and Jupiter.
