These cars are pretty cool whatever your age and insurance cover is some of the most painless to obtain.

Also, as with our own British Beetle, the Morry Minor, classic insurers don’t get shirty about certain mods due to parts availability and so later, larger engines can be substituted (up to 1600cc) although none will make the Beetle a racer. But they drive okay, possess a lot of street cred and are pretty easy to maintain. Although it’s essentially the same vehicle, spin offs such as Beach Buggies and campers are harder to insure unlike the Type 4 1500 and fastbacks.
