BEST MODEL: ORIGINAL

Better known as the Droopsnoot, this car was launched just after Triumph’s Dolly Sprint and the silver coloured Vauxhall was slightly more powerful (131bhp) plus boasted a fivespeed gearbox. A real driver’s car, as they say, what let this Vauxhall down was its lack of refinement and panache, the sort of qualities the Alfa and BMW served up in spades. As only a couple of hundred were made and many rotted away, rarity will ensure good returns for your £5-7000 in years to come but spares (body and oily bits) will be a perennial problem.
