Some rightly argue that Triumph’s TR7 was more a replacement for the touring GT6 rather than the real sports TR, the TR6, and the car’s character certainly suggests this is so. But image aside, this much misunderstood Triumph has many merits, chiefly a great cockpit, good comfort and refinement, secure handling, fair performance and economy – and some great looks, albeit that’s on droptop form. And all for the price of a similar Spitfire. Yes, it’s definitely time to take a fresh look at TR7s.
