A true modern healey
You can argue that if the TR7 had stayed in production longer and the TR8 had been properly launched (only a handful of UK models were sold), then the TVR Chimaera and the MGR V8 may had never materialised because this Triumph would have done the job just as well. Those odd fixedhead looks were transformed once the roof was cut off (done one lunchtime at the factory it is rumoured!) while the car was always designed with the evergreen Rover V8 in mind. Converted TR7-V8s are plentiful and make great value buys so long as the conversion was done well. US TR8s are around but engine is detuned and the chassis settings softened, but can be converted.
