The key to getting a super Spitfire is patience.
Wait for a good one to come up as they do still appear at a fair prices, specially the later 1500s although the real gems are the 1300s, having better fuel economy and a lower insurance group. Along with that the 1300cc engine gives a traditional sports car feel as it pops and crackles through the rev range which it covers with more eagerness. The later the car, the better the handling although a Spitfire still needs watching if you’ve just driven Mum’s Focus. A bit of a girl’s car in their day, they still appeal as they are easy and light to drive.
