Of a certain vintage

Why include this rather ordinary family car you may well ask? In a word, the answer comes down to character. In the same year that BMC launched its radical Mini, Standard-Triumph introduced a plain-jane design featuring a separate chassis propping up a very dated 50’s styled body, powered by an equally ancient engine. So it’s no surprise to learn that the Herald feels decidedly vintage and the handling can only be described as ‘interesting’, especially so in six-cylinder Vitesse guise that’s as lively as any early TR. Charming quaint classics, all of them and at prices at least a third cheaper than any rival TRs.
