30 YEARS’ OLD YET BARELY A CLASSIC
Launched during the height of the hot hatch era, this mid-engined sports car, that’s as easy to own and maintain as a Corolla (and equally as reliable) has yet to make it as a true classic. All are as userfriendly and as enjoyable as an MX-5, perhaps more so due to that mid-engined layout and there’s even a dedicated low cost racing series for them. The Mk1 and Mk2s suffer from severe rust while the Boxster lookalike Mk3 can have serious engine issues plus luggage space is non existent! Nevertheless, a cheap sports car that should become a classic – surely?
