This car is as old as the Frogeye Sprite and based upon nothing more exotic than a Hillman Husky van. However, while this fin-tailed roadster is more a GT than sportster, Alpines make an ideal alternative if you’ve had your fill of MGs and Triumphs and still good value when compared to an MGB or Triumph TR4. Spares supply, while not as proficient as those other British badges, is generally okay. If you want this Sunbeam to become the sports car it should have been, speak to Alpine expert Chris Draycott who knows all the top tricks.
