As Hardcore As They Come

Let’s be honest, if you’re after a road burner that acquits itself equally well on the circuits either as a track day car or competitive racer (of which there is an excellent championship), then you can’t do better than either a Lotus 7 or a Caterham. Masses to choose from with a variety of powerplants, which now includes a three-cylinder Suzuki engine, so you need a specialist to help you make the right decision. Exert extreme caution to ensure you don’t buy something that has been tracked, thrashed and crashed too many times! Clone Sevens made from a kit are plentiful and if done well (many aren’t sadly) make excellent and great value buys as well.
