We’ve included the Boxster in this batch of boisterous blasters even though the German couldn’t be further removed from the entire lot! Mid-engined and bang up to date design-wise, this Porsche playred a rol in killiing off TVR by providing a serious sports car (and being broadly 996-derived it couldn’t be anything else) with the durability and usability of a VW Golf! Lots to choose from and they all drive great, even the base 2.5 model which some say lacks power – just try one we say… Early cars are now almost 20 years old and prices have fallen below the £5000 mark but they are expensive to repair and a DIY nightmare so buy with care.
