WAS IT WORTH THE WAIT?

MGF is the sportster the car MGB lovers had to wait nearly 20 years for – 20 years ago! But it was almost worth the wait because this mid-engined sports car is increasingly taking the place of the evergreen MGB in classic car circles, especially with younger enthusiasts. And rightly so because thanks to its advanced design, engaging yet fail safe mid-engined handling, crisp K-Series engines and a civilised cockpit – it’s all you could wish for in a modern classic and at prices you still can’t grasp. The downside is that there are a lot of bad cars around but, if you have the money, you can now buy fully refurbished, turn key cars from specialists. TF replacement is more conventional and value but we’d be wary of the Chinese cars as reliability can be patchy.
