IT’S SUCH A SCREAM
Honda’s CRX was a delightful and attractive roadster with a powered metal roof that became its party piece years before the Mercedes SLK came along. But Honda’s real hero is the later S2000, a 9000rpm screamer that can be likened to a grown up MX-5. It was announced in 1999 (1997cc) with a chassis upgrade and 17inch for 2004 plus a further chassis rework for 2008, a year before its demise. Super high revving 237bhp fun, but handling can be twitchy so check for accident damage. Superbly built (although watch for overheating, engine fault light illuminating and stiff clutches), prices for a 2004 car are around £5-7000 and £11,500-14,000 for ’09 models. Most desired are special run out (100) all in Grand Prix white.
