THE LATIN MGB

Fiat is launching a modern 124 Spider, ironically using the MX-5 as its base albeit with styling changes and Fiery Fiat turbo power. It’s going to be brilliant just like the original. The 124 Spider was launched in 1966 and enjoyed a 20 year production run (virtually all LHD only) with pre-1974 cars the sportiest and most classically styled as they were later spoiled to appease the US market where 85 per cent went – just like our own MGB in so many ways! Middle Barton Garage of Oxford is an expert on Spiders and you really need specialist help to buy a good one but once you’ve got over that hurdle you’ll enjoy an Italian MGB that’s more sophisticated and rare in the UK than an Alfa Spider.
