AN AUTOMATIC CHOICE?
A direct rival to the MGR V8 or TVR S, this traditional front-engined Ferrari V12 certainly isn’t. Rather it shows what you can also buy for much the same money if you’re brave or foolish. You can pick one up for under £20,000 with the earlier 365s having a slight premium and projects start from under 10 grand. Strike it lucky and you’ll own a magnificent GT. With a big V12 up front (5-litres on the 412) and traditional rear-wheel drive layout, you’d expect this Italian stallion more a cruiser and yet this big and bulky Ferrari handles more like a sports car thanks to its Koni suspension making it feel far tauter than, say, a Jag XJ-S. A good many came with a GM-sourced three-speed automatic and, amamzingly, shelf-shifting suits this Ferrari’s family credentials better than you’d expect.
