A bulls-eye – or 180?
Broadly based upon a Triumph TR3, there was nothing modern about this dowdy Daimler when it was factory fresh at the tail end of the the 1950s. Looking strangely old fashioned, the Daimler’s face-saver was its gem of a V8 that provided indecent haste in a velvety fashion. Half-baked when launched, but the later B and C-spec models cured most of the Dart’s major ills apart form those looks although designer Tom Karen’s refresh, which was rejected by Daimler, went on to style Reliant’s Scimitars! But on the other hand, the SP250 has never been slave to changing trends and tastes. The days of dirt cheap Darts are long gone and you’re looking at £20,000 to buy a fair one.
