You need a ‘six’ or V8 to make a coupé go as well as it looks! Here’s a delightful dozen to consider; all prices relate to typical average-to-good examples
SETTING THE TREND
£40,000
Both MG and Datsun tried hard to recapture the spirit and style of the glorious Big-six Healey but never quite made it, especially the Brit, which should have done. Beefy and brutish, this 1950’s icon is a proper ‘driver’s car’ in every sense with lusty performance and show-it-who’s-boss handling. Most were two-seater convertibles but a hardtop and 2+2 seating configuration were optional. Prices have soared of late and the trend will only continue for this classic Brit that’s backed by an excellent network of specialists and owners’ clubs.
