While the looks of the power-dressed Tasmin aren’t to everybody’s taste, there’s no doubt that underneath lurked a serious sports car.
Lotus, or rather its ex-engineers, designed the chassis and new boss Peter Wheeler demanded the power, which in top 450SEAC (AC standing for Aramid Composite – Kevlar and carbon fibre) spelt 300bhp! Lesser V8s (all Rover powered) still had 200bhp minimum, so none are exactly short of pace. There’s a good range to choose from but all need vetting carefully, especially for accident damage.
