BEST MODEL: STAG-ENGINED WITH OVERDRIVE
Now this V8-powered GT has reached 45, the Stag has matured into a mellow, reliable, easy-owning sports roadster and coupé combined that you simply can’t ignore if you’re after a prestigious performance car. Not particularly fast or taut in handling the Stag is no worse than either the BMW or Alfa plus can be improved (although originality counts the most these days). Best of all, there’s plenty of Stags around and because it’s a Triumph is backed by one of the best owners’ clubs around along with an army of specialists. Apart from top end buys, most are value at less than ten grand.
