abba look at one
Launched in 1967 as the 99, the improved 900 of the mid 80’s was mostly the same car (saloon or hatchback) until the early 1990’s when the Vauxhall Cavalier-derived namesake took over (top), signalling the end of the Swede’s independence yet still retaining that essential Saab character. A bit cramped and quirky, but all feel as solid as a rock and make for a dependable, distinctive daily driver. Best classic has to be the original black beauty Turbo, naturally, which sell for three times as much as the lesser models. Despite the demise of the carmaker, spares and servicing pose no problems and there’s great club support, too.
