Top Gear famously said Boxsters were for those who never quite made it far enough in life to afford a 911. Well, we’re happy to underachieve then! Truth is the Boxster is a very fine car that those genuinely in the know believes embodies everything that Porsches used to stand for; sharp handling, great performance and solid reliability – plus, with prices starting from less than five grand – affordability. Drive one and it’s like stepping back in time to an early 911 before it went all posh and upmarket. The enclosed mid-engined layout means it’s a nightmare for working on sadly – even for seasoned mechanics!
