The british beetle
Okay so there’s no modern equivalent to the Minor, which means it’s irreplaceable, but you can virtually build or buy one as an new car, tailored to your specific requirements. In standard form a Minor is a charmer although pre-mid 1950 models are a matter of taste. In our view the car is at its best sympathetically modified with a 1275cc engine, five-speed gearbox and disc brakes. And like the VW Beetle, insures don’t mind either. The excellent owners’ club now boasts a division specifically for young drivers that’s going great guns.
