A delightful dozen that proves you can own a genuine classic sports car but without breaking the bank...
THE F WORD IS TOTALLY ACCEPTABLE
£400- £7000
The MGF was the MG we all waited for and despite being out of the game for some 15 years, it knew what the market demanded – the most advanced MG ever. A fast mid-engined, sports car yet the handling is predictable and secure while the Allegro-based Hydragas suspension strangely used provided a saloon-like ride where the later conventionally sprung TF rather disappointed here. Build quality was always indifferent and scrappage rates remain alarmingly high, although some specialists are now offering fully refurbished cars and there’s excellent nationwide club support. Super value, a last of the line 12 plater can be had for £7000.
