It's a 2cv in spirit
Although Citroën never intended the C3 Pluriel to be ‘the new 2CV’ the carmaker did hail it as five cars in one and a car for all seasons, being a (sun-roofed) coupé one minute and cabrio or full-blown convertible (or makeshift light truck!) the next, all by way of easily removable body panels – oh so 2CV! Trouble is that once removed, the only place the large side roof members can sit is in the passenger footwell so it was no fun in the sun for a passenger! Launched in 2003 and dropped just five years ago, sales were always low (an unpleasant semi-auto transmission and rattles hardly helped) and prices now start from £1500 or less. A future classic – who knows?
