WHO NEEDS AN MX-5?
With its classical long flowing bonnet, short tail, and a distinct touch of the Healey about it, regular readers will know that we’re quite a fan of BMW’s MX-5 rivalling Z3. Available in a variety of four and six-cylinder engines to suit all pockets and speed kicks, yet the Z3 is easy and economical as a 3 Series to run and maintain and just as smooth and civilised. Our pick of the four-cylinder range is the quick 2.2-litre but if sheer speed isn’t important to you, all are adequate plus there’s the option of automatic transmission. Good support from owners’ clubs, too.
