Displacing rather than replacing the DBS/V8, the vexed Virage (with its Ford Scorpio dials and switchgear) will always split opinions. Aston’s poorly developed replacement for the antique DBS only came good once the revamped Vantage was issued but if you’re after a low cost genuine old school Aston that feels like the DBS it’s based upon, then a Virage fits the bill, being slightly roomier, rarer and in most cases cheaper than a more modern and superior DB7. Less than £20K can get you a fair one but you get what you pay for – and repair bills come DB5-sized.
